This was the final piece in two days of painting at the Carmel Art Festival 2003 plein air competition. On this day I had already painted two canvases which, in my eyes, failed and I scraped them. I was very discouraged and completely exhausted from 6 hours of painting. I had 3 hours until deadline and I plucked up my courage and did this final painting. It won an Honorable Mention.
