It’s early morning in Monterey Harbor and the sun backlights the distant pier and the boats moored in the harbor. Among the boats is an odd structure floating there. It is an abalone “farm”, harvested regularly by the owner. Dark branches of a pine frames the picture and obscures the bright morning sun.
